June Favorites

Surprisingly I've got only two makeup products this month as I've been really invested in skincare as of late!

I've raved about Charlotte Tilbury's Instant Look In A Palette Natural Beauty on instagram nonstop since I got it, and I honestly have not set this baby down. I've mostly used the bronzer and highlighter as they really are just so complimentary on my skin tone, even more so than the original Filmstar Bronze & Glow (I did a comparison of them, you can see here). I have played a bit with the middle eyeshadow shade and it's really so lovely to use all over the lid and the inner corner of the eye. These shadows especially are so buttery and soft, I wish all of Charlotte's shadows were like this! I also apologize for being so late in my review of this palette, I meant to upload it ages ago but you'll be seeing it soon in another post I have planned.

Tom Ford's Revolve Around Me has been a big staple for me transitioning into summer as I 'play it safe' color wise. I really enjoy the color and also the lipstick itself! It's the perfect amount of nude and slight amount of peach/beige to where I don't look totally washed out (as I'm really so fair). Tom Ford has come out with amazing lipsticks for his summer collection and his nude colors from his regular line are some of my absolute favorites.

My skin has been in a weird funk for the past 1-2 months. I've always had very oily-oily skin, but it's become more oily-dry and sensitive. I attribute that mostly to stress and bad sleep, but I have also not been the best with taking care of my skin. When you have troubled skin like mine, not taking care of it can make a small problem turn into a huge one with very little effort.

It was then quite a godsend that M-61's Power Cleanse* came into my life. This gel cleanser has been a workhorse for my skin and has not only helped my acne clear up, but especially helped specific PIH spots as this cleanser contains glycolic acid (the third ingredient). It also contains tea tree oil, great for troubled skin, and vitamin b5, which acts to moisturize the skin and soothe irritation. I really feel this cleanser doing its work as I do feel a bit of tingling as I am using it, and I really prefer to use it straight onto my skin instead of using it to take off makeup. I have not yet seen any difference with my pores but I think with more usage I will see more positive effects from it.

Another product from M-61 I've really enjoyed is their Vitablast C Serum*. I've really been interested in adding a Vitamin C serum to my night skincare routine so I was really excited to try this out. My skin has not been this glowing in... ever? I've struggled with troubled skin my whole life. It's caused me a lot of emotional damage growing up, and ultimately has harmed my self-esteem to its core. This serum has worked so well with the other products in my routine to help brighten and correct my skin. I already use a good amount of brightening products, but as a serum and as one of my last steps I really do feel it has even more so helped. It also uses gallic acid, which is a water soluble astringent and antioxidant derived from plants, and numerous studies have been done to show it being an anticancer agent.

Pur~lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum* has been so lovely to use as I've been on the hunt for a new eye cream, specifically one to help brighten my under eyes. It comes out as a soft lotion and spreads out thinly under the eye, and really is so moisturizing. I'm using Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol Eye Cream at night which tends to dry out my under eyes, so I've been wanting to alternate using a moisturizing eye cream on nights when I don't use it. This Pur~lisse one has been just the perfect product to alternate with, and has gradually brightened my under eyes a bit the more times I've used it. It's been so hot and humid here so it's been so nice to have a product like this to use!

I've fallen in love with Oskia and I hope to never be parted from any products of theirs ever again. This serum has taken the spot of my beloved Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. Yep, it's done it. Oskia Super 16 Serum is the serum I never knew I needed until the first time I put it on my face and felt heaven's light shine down on me (or at least it felt like it). This serum is on the watery side but dries up sooo quickly, you have to work really fast to get it into your skin but once it does it really feels lovely and the next morning my face looks like I was given the best facial of my life. I've been really into anti-aging products and this honestly is one that I will keep on buying, regardless of pound-dollar conversion (even though it does hurt to look at the conversion, ouch). I now have the Restoration Oil and Brightlight serum, can't wait to try those and see how they do! Cult Beauty has great shipping and I always end up finding coupons one way or another, so love shopping there.

What have been your favorite products this month? I'd love to hear some of your favorites and some recommendations!

  1. Mika, I'm loving this post and am considering doing a similar one on my blog! Love all of your picks! I've become such a fan of the M-61 skincare line over the past few months and my obsession with Charlotte Tilbury makeup in general, knows no limit. The Purlisse eye cream sounds so lovely and I need to revisit Oskia. I've used some of their products a few years ago and don't remember why I never repurchased again! Great post and gorgeous photography!
