What I'm loving this September . . .

I know it'd be quite cliche to say how fast this month has gone but it really has! Do I get a pass because of this being my first favorites post on the blog? Okay, one time won't hurt!

I have a lot of favorites for this month! I've been so busy lately that I've really gotten this routine down of just using products that are quick and easy to pop on as I'm running out the door. You might be thinking that the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit is not quick or easy to use, but luckily I've perfected my usage of it so now it takes me less than a minute to get a nice and blended contour. The real reason why this is part of my favorites is because I am so in love with the Vanilla and Banana setting powders. I have a neutral skin tone so what I end up doing is using Banana and Vanilla together on top of my concealer and it is so so so perfect (and lasts all day too). I've been using a combo of these two powders all month long instead of my usual MAC Emphasize setting powder (which is an HG for fair skin!).

Along with that, I've been loving Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light. It's the nicest bronzer for fair skin, all you need is one swipe and you've got a sheer but complimentary warmth to the face. I'm in love with Hourglass in general, the brand's products are amazing and the swirl in the pan is too gorgeous. It definitely is glowy but not too much for my oily skin.

In my most recent post, I've shown you my love for Charlotte Tilbury's Matte Revolution lipsticks --- and it doesn't stop there! Charlotte's Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher in First Love is one of the most beautiful coral/peach colors I've ever seen. I especially am loving the middle color of the blush on days when I want to amp up my look a bit. I've also been obsessed with Charlotte's Eyes to Mesmerise cream eyeshadows. The color pictured here is Mona Lisa, a beautiful dark chocolate color ("wisteria-chocolate bronze" per Charlotte's website), and is one of the best cream eyeshadows I've used in a long while. I do have oily eyelids so I make sure that I use a good primer beforehand. I did an experiment the other day: I did not use any eye primer before wearing this color and it lasted from about 9am until 6pm without creasing terribly. It did end up creasing just a bit but the color stayed on and the creasing was really minimal! I was inside most of the time though, so might have performed differently if I were outside.

I got a deluxe sample of YSL Volupte Tint-in-Oil in the color Cherry My Cherie from Sephora and it's been such a staple in my makeup routine for basically the last half of this summer. I can't believe how long it's lasted! I was a bit apprehensive about buying this product but after trying this deluxe sample I will definitely be purchasing a full size when I run out. It is oily on the lips (obviously) but it moisturizes them so well and doesn't feel weird at all. I have such chapped and dry lips all the time so this has been exactly what I've needed.

Last but not least, I've hopped on the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara train and I'm not coming off anytime soon! I sometimes roll my eyes whenever I see a product that's ridiculously hyped (and this has been hyped so much) and it puts me off from trying it, but I was in Sephora a few weeks ago and I just decided to buy it on a whim. I have the shortest eyelashes anyone could have so I always wear fake lashes, but with this mascara I really don't have to.

So, these are my favorites of the month! Let me know what you've been loving this month!

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipsticks Review

Anybody who knows me knows that I have a slight major infatuation with Charlotte Tilbury's makeup line (and the woman herself, who is such an inspiration!). When her makeup line was first released here in the USA a few years ago, I quickly snatched up three lipsticks (Bitch Perfect, Nude Kate, and Penelope Pink) and couldn't wait to get more. Since then I have slowly accumulated products from her line such as her Lip Cheats, Colour Chameleons, Eyes to Mesmerise, and so on. I'm properly addicted to her makeup!

Luckily for us Americans, Charlotte has brought back her amazing Matte Revolution lipsticks here to the States! First having a quick sale of them early in Spring of this year and then just recently bringing them back permanently for those of us who couldn't get our hands on them the first round. I was one of those who couldn't get my hands on them in Spring (sad face), but I managed to buy some shades from Beautylish and also Charlotte's online store a few weeks ago. Today I'm going to be talking about her Matte Revolution lipsticks in Bond Girl, Glastonberry, Love Liberty, Very Victoria, Amazing Grace, 1975 Red, and Miss Kensington.

My first try of her Matte Revolution lipsticks was during the release of Charlotte's Norman Parkinson collection in July. It was such a gorgeous collection in appreciation to the legendary photographer, and I managed to get two of the lipsticks included in that collection: 1975 Red and Miss Kensington. I'm including them in this round-up of my review since they are part of the Matte Revolution lipstick family.

Love Liberty, Glastonberry, Very Victoria, Bond Girl

Amazing Grace, 1975 Red, Miss Kensington

Taken from Charlotte's website, this is the description of Matte Revolution lipsticks:

Create the illusion of fuller, wider lips with my Matte Revolution – for lips that look lit from within. It’s a trick I use all the time on photo shoots, using lighting trickery, pigments and powders, and have been working for years to re-create this effect in the slick of 1 lipstick. Now everyone can create this full, matte lip effect in a long-lasting, buildable, hydrating formula – it’s the matte lipstick of the future! Exclusively enriched with Lipstick Tree extract which protects lips and is a natural anti-oxidant, and Orchid Extract which soothes and hydrates for a soft, buildable cashmere finish. Available in 10 modern-matte shades for all skin tones – 1 for each of my signature looks.

One of the main reasons why I love her Matte Revolution lipsticks is because they truly don't feel like a matte, more of a demi-matte with a creamy feel to them yet long wear time. It's as if a satin and a matte had a baby, basically. It's so creamy that at one point I forgot I was even wearing it! For those who have sensitive or dry lips, these Matte Revolution lipsticks are what you've been waiting for.

The colors I bought are: Love Liberty ("wild rose flush"), Glastonberry ("sheer blackcurrant"), Bond Girl ("natural berry"), Very Victoria ("suede, taupe nude"), Amazing Grace ("vintage tea rose"), 1975 Red ("sunset red"), and Miss Kensington ("rose petal").

I absolutely love every single color. Even more so, the lipstick bullets are a gorgeous rose gold color and I'm so in love with the vintage style to them (my photos are coming up very gold, but in real life they are rose gold). The longevity of these lipsticks are amazing, at one point I wore Glastonberry for over 10 hours with only 1-2 touchups (including me going out to eat, drinking, etc). Miss Kensington was the only one that I felt like I needed to keep touching up more, which really isn't really a deal breaker for me as it's one of the most beautiful pinks I've ever worn. 1975 Red is the one that I felt like I wouldn't be wearing a lot of as I have a lot of red pigmentation on my face and also suffer from acne-prone skin (so I try not to wear bright reds in general), but I've worn it the most out of all of them! It's a gorgeous tomato-orange red and, in my opinion, great to wear all year round. Amazing Grace is such a complementary color, not only for fair skin but all skin tones in general. It's not too dark and it's just in that center of tone, it's a classic color that definitely reminds me of vintage and simplicity. Bond Girl and Very Victoria take on a more brown hue on my fair skin, but are great colors themselves. I still haven't figured out what kind of look I like them with, as I've worn them multiple times but haven't truly liked the makeup combination, so I'll update you on what I find most fits me.

For each lipstick I feel like I take on a different persona, which is really what Charlotte has created with her whole makeup line. Every lipstick has a different personality and inspiration that is associated with it, and ones that match her eyeshadow quads and other products of her line. I find that I'm a mix of The Uptown Girl, The Sophisticate, and The Dolce Vita.

I honestly can't gush about these lipsticks more than I already have! I'm looking to get Red Carpet Red next, which is deeper than 1975 Red and is a true Hollywood red lipstick color.

Have you bought any of Charlotte's Matte Revolution lipsticks or are looking to buy some? What are your thoughts?

I've got my own domain as well for this blog, which I decided to just do because I want to be blogging indefinitely. I'm really going to try my best to be consistent and use this as my creative outlet from the crazy day-to-day life shenanigans.

I want this blog to be a place that is full of ideas, creativity, and lust for life.
